Report for August 30, 1940. A Douglas DC-3A (NC-21789) operated by Pennsylvania-Central Airlines crashed near Lovettsville, Virginia while on a scheduled mail and passenger flight from Washington-Hoover Airport to Detroit, Michigan. The pilot, Lowell V. Scroggins, his copilot and flight hostess, and all 22 passengers were killed.
