Includes centenary commemorative envelope with illustration depicting the “Great Trek” of 1838 by the Voortrekker [Dutch-speaking settlers] from Cape Colony into the interior of South Africa. LaVoy notes that first one thousand miles of the letter's trip was via ox cart, while the rest would be air mail.
