Scope and Contents
Radio documentary, "Flyers of Fortune: American Airmen in the Spanish Civil War," based on the book "Airmen Without Portfolio: U.S. Mercenaries in Civil War Spain" by John Carver Edwards, produced by the University of Georgia, broadcast on Peach State Public Radio, 1998. Examines the military careers of American aviators and soldiers who fought for the Spanish Republic against the uprising of General Francisco Franco. Individuals discussed include Frank Glasgow Tinker, Milton Wolff, James Allison, Harold "Whitey" Dahl, Benjamin Leider, Albert John "Ajax" Baumler, Robert Lee Scott, and Ernest Hemingway.
