One of McCaw’s primary responsibilities was the ongoing process of research and acquisition of used and new aircraft to expand and upgrade the company’s fleet from the initial 3 Fokker F.27 Friendships in 1981 to more than 30 aircraft of primarily de Havilland (Canada) DHC-8 Dash 8 Series 100 and 300 aircraft by the time of Alaska’s buyout of Horizon Air in late 1986.
