Contents of the Collection

From the Collection:

The Suzanne Graham Carvalho-Maia Eddie Hubbard Collection is comprised of visual and textual materials relating to pilot Eddie Hubbard, from approximately 1916 through the 1920s.

Textual materials include two air mail contracts for Hubbard (1922 and 1925); a cancelled Boeing Airplane & Transport Corporation stock certificate for 100 shares held by "Ed Hubbard;" a Janaury 15, 1929 letter from J. "T." Hartson of Wright Aeronautical Corporation offering his condolences to Mrs. Hubbard on Eddie Hubbard's death; a small advertisement to "Have a ride in a Flying Boat, Madison Park;" and assorted newspaper clippings about Hubbard's career and death. A copy of the October 1927 issue of The Bee-Hive, a Pratt & Whitney employee newsletter was transferred to the library but an article on Boeing air mail was copied and maintained in the collection.

There are also five black-and-white photographs of varying sizes. Only one of the images has any identifying information; it depicts a woman standing next to a parked seaplane. The handwritten caption on the reverse reads "Mildred Hubbard." There is one image showing a man, likely Hubbard, in the cockpit of a mailplane. Two of the remaining photographs depict an aircraft in flight and on the water. The last photograph shows a biplane in flight with a barnstormer hanging from the plane.
