Scope and Contents

Album consisting of 88 black-and-white photographic prints documenting the construction of the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Corporation plant on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo, New York in 1917. The prints are a mix of 8x10" and 5x7" prints. They span August 18 to October 2, 1917. The images show a variety of views and angles, including wide-angle views of the construction site, close-up views of details, workers and horses on the site, exterior and interior views of the buildings, and aerial views of the site.

This collection is open for research. The bound volumes and some documents may not be photocopied due to condition. Negatives may not be handled; copies and digital versions are available for access. Some oversize items are in need of conservation treatment so access may be limited.

Processing Information

The album cover was badly deteriorating so the album was dismantled for preservation purposes. All pieces of the album cover were saved. The photographs were removed and sleeved individually but kept in original sequential order.
