Biographical Note

J. Sheldon "Torch" Lewis was born on January 29, 1923 in Elmira, New York. He was a friend of and worked for William P. Lear, including as Vice President of Sales for Lear Fan Limited. He was also an aviation writer for Business and Commercial Aviation for nearly 40 years as well as a member of the National Business Aircraft Association. He died from liver cancer at his home in Punta Gorda, Florida in April 2003.
