Biographical Note

Born on July 16, 1922 in Sweden, Sture Bror Pierson was a former crew member of the B-29 "T-Square 54." He served as a radar observer and bombadier with the 875th Bomb Squadron during World War II. Pierson remained with the Air Force after World War II and also served in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He retired from military service as a Lieutenant Colonel.

He married Betty Jo Robison (1924-2019)in September 1945. Sture B. Pierson died on July 28, 2004.

Abstract Lt. Col. John R. Buschmann compiled this information about the Boeing B-29 Superfortress, known as "T-Square 54," through personal research and interviews with former crew members. In 2015 these materials, including a short history of the plane written by Lt. Col. Buschmann, were donated to the Museum of Flight in an effort to keep the physical plane and its history housed in one location.
