Eugene "Gene" Arthur Meyring was born on September 6, 1904 in Colorado. During the 1930s, Meyring joined the United States Naval Reserve. As of 1940, he was residing in Alaska and working as a pilot. Meyring flew for Alaska Washington Airways, Alaska Southern Airways, and Pacific Alaska Airways. He later joined Pan American
Airways.
He married Alys L. Spillett (1909-1999) on July 24, 1928 in Los Angeles, California. The couple had a daughter, Barbara. Gene Meyring died on May 7, 1975.
