Raymond L. Callaway was born on April 12, 1916 in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He joined the United States Army Air Forces in 1940 and served with several of air groups during his career, including the 56th Fighter Group, the 80th Fighter Group, the 326th Fighter Group, the 3rd Fighter Group, and the 369th Fighter Group. In 1943, he joined the 8th Fighter Squadron of the Chinese-American Composite Wing (CACW), serving in China and India. Callaway remained in the Reserves after the war and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1967. Callaway passed away in 2005.
