Biographical Note
Zhang Xueliang, nicknamed 'Young Marshal' and later in life as Peter H. L. Chang, led northeast China in the 1920s-1930s. He was involved in the 1936 Xi'an Incident which resulted in him spending 50 years under house arrest. He immigrated to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1993 and died there in 2001.

Julius A. Barr had a varied flight career in the 1920s and 1930s, notably spending time as a personal pilot to Chinese military figures and later working as a Boeing test pilot. The collection includes 5 albums with more than 1,600 photographs and 11 films that document his personal life and career.
