Glenn Ellsworth Zimmerman was born in Cambridge Spring, Pennsylvania on March 18, 1912. After high school he attended college and earned a degree in Industrial Engineering. He served in the United States Navy during WWII, entering as a commissioned officer in November 1942 and eventually rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He served at the Naval Air Sations in Norman, Oklahoma, Dallas, Texas, and Quillayute, Washington during the war. Zimmerman died on July 3, 1993 in San Diego, California.
