Biographical Note

Richard Pemberton was born December 8, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended high school and radio school in Kansas City. Pemberton starting working for Northwest Orient Airlines at age 18 and later served as Radio and Flight Dispatcher on Northwest's Pacific routes. He then became a Station Manager in Eastern Washington and Montana. Pemberton was on duty on November 24, 1971, then night 'D. B. Cooper' hijacked a Boeing 727 operated by Northwest Orient Airlines. Pemberton passed away on June 30, 2002.
