Biographical Note

Herbert "Herb" Ashton Buroker was born in September 16, 1895 in Walla Walla, Washington. During World War I, he served as a pilot.

On August 4, 1937, Buroker married Gladys E. Dawson (1914-2002), a female aviatrix, barnstormer, and flight instructor. Together with Gwin Hicks, they operated Buroker-Hicks Flight School at Weeks Field where they trained transport pilots for Farragut Naval Base during World War II. Buroker was a flight instructor at the school and also worked in aircraft repair at Olympia Airport.

Herb Buroker died on May 17, 1973.
