Contents of the Collection

The John A. Jones World War II Collection is a very small collection related to Jones' World War II service from 1942-1945. The collection is comprised of a training certificate from the Boeing Flying Fortress School; three digital reprints of 1940s-era photographs, two of which feature Jones; and photocopies of Jones' Honorable Discharge and military service record.

Abstract

Frederick Staples (1893-1958) was born in Leighwood, Devon County, England. Staples served with the United States (U.S.) Army American Expeditionary Forces (AEF), 34th Aero Squadron, in France during World War I. The collection is comprised of a photograph album and a small amount of textual materials collected by Staples during his 1917-1919 service.
