Historical Note
Transportes Aereos del Continente Americano, known as TACA International Airlines, was founded in 1931 in Honduras. Early in its history, the airline was known as TACA Airways System and began as a cargo only operation, but added passenger service in 1940. It moved its headquarters to El Salvador in 1945 and by 1947 grew to include multiple airlines: TACA de Nicaragua, TACA de Costa Rica, Aerovias Brazil, TACA de Colombia, TACA de Venezuela, TACA de El Salvador, and TACA de Honduras. The airline ceased to exist in 2013 when it was merged into Avianca El Salvador.
