Historical Note

Pinehurst Airlines was an American regional airline that operated circa 1970s-1982. The airline was originally founded by Lewis C. Burwell Jr. as a specialised resort service at Pinehurst, North Carolina, circa 1970s. It relocated to Greenville, South Carolina in 1979 and was an established cargo and charter airline. The airline began scheduled passenger flights between Atlanta and Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina in June 1981. In early 1982 it ceased operations due to bankruptcy.
