Historical Note

Lineas Aereas Occidentales (LAO) was founded by Walter Varney in 1934 and was considered a subsidiary of Varney Air Lines. It was primarily established to fly from Los Angeles, California to Mexico City, Mexico on a Mexican mail contract, although it did offer limited passenger service. The airline was short-lived and ceased operations in late 1934 due to financial strife.
