Historical Note

Embry-Riddle Company was established in 1925 at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati, Ohio. It handled air mail and lilmited passenger service. It is not clear when this service ended. In 1926, the Embry-Riddle School of Aviation opened, although it closed in 1930. The school was re-opened in 1939 in Miami, Florida, although it eventually moved to Daytona Beach. Embry-Riddle became a university in 1969. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University continues operations as of 2024.
