Historical Note

MALÉV, also seen as MALÉV Hungarian Airlines, was established in 1946 as Hungarian-Soviet Civil Air Transport Joint Stock Company. In 1954, the airline rebranded to MALÉV. It was the flag carrier airline of Hungary and operated out of Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport until its closure in 2012 due to financial strife.
