Historical Note

The 13th Air Force is one of the oldest continuously active numbered air forces in the United States Air Force. It has never been headquartered in the continental United States. The 13th was established on December 14, 1942. During World War II, it was deployed in the Pacific Theater. It was active until September 28, 2012.
