Theodore Jay Johnston Boeing Aircraft Collection

Abstract Theodore Jay Johnston (1923-2013) was born in Olympia, Washington and was a pilot with the Eighth Air Force (398th Heavy Bomb Group) during World War II. After the war, Johnston spent 37 years at Boeing, workings on a variety of projects, including the Boeing B-47 Stratojet and Boeing B-52 Stratofortress. The collection contains slides and technical documentation related to Johnston's personal history with the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and the Boeing B-47 Stratojet.

Contents of the Collection The Jim Radcliffe Boeing Collection holds a very small amount of material related to Radcliffe's career at The Boeing Company, 1967-1969. It includes two 1967 "SST Phase II Program Schedules," numbers 1B and 1C. The schedules provide an overview of the project plan for various departments, including "Nonstructure," "Mockup," "Design." There are also eleven 35mm color slides depicting the Boeing 747 first flight at Paine Field in 1969. The images were taken by Radcliffe and show the aircraft...

Donald D. Viele Lunar Orbiter Collection

Abstract Donald Viele was a Systems Engingeer with Boeing who worked with NASA on the Lunar Orbiter Program (1964-1967). This collection contains documents and photographs collected and authored by Viele during his time on the Lunar Orbiter team.

There is also some documentation relating to Viele's work with the Minuteman Missile program.
