Pan American World Airways Airmail Flight Menu

Contents of the Collection The Pan American World Airways Airmail Flight Menu is a small collection is comprised of one folded-card dinner menu from the inaugural Air Mail flight from San Francisco to New Zealand on Pan American Airways Clipper "American," on July 12, 1940. The menu was signed by members of the crew, including Captain J. H. Tilton, while it was docked at the first stop on its route: Honolulu.

Contents of the Collection This small collection is comprised of a twenty-three page booklet on the history of Pan American Airways, dated 1958. The history begins with Pan American's first flight from Key West to Havana in 1927 and its expansion of routes into the Caribbean, South America, China, and Europe, as well as the introduction of jets into service in 1958. The back of the booklet includes a table of growth in air speed, route miles, passengers, miles flown, and employees between 1927 and 1958.
