Biographical Note

James Bruce Morehead was born on August 16, 1916 in Paoli, Oklahoma. Morehead joined the United States Army Air Force in 1940 and served during World War II as a fighter pilot. He flew combat missions over a three-year span of the war with a total of eight aerial victories, earning Ace status in April 1942. Morehead served in the USAF until 1967, when he retired at the rank of Colonel. Morehead died on March 11, 2012 and was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
