Historical Note
Kelly Field was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the United States entry into World War I, being established in March 1917. It was used as a flying field; primary flying school; school for adjutants, supply officers, engineers; mechanics school, and as an aviation general supply depot. As of 2001, it is a joint-use facility for civil and military aviation.

Major Thomas Walter Jackson (1916-1942) was a United States Army Air Corps pilot and squadron commander who served in the Aleutian Island campaign during World War II. The collection contains textual materials, photographs, and a digitized film clip pertaining to the 1938-1942 military service of Jackson.
