Historical Note

United Airlines, Inc., commonly referred to as United, is a major United States airline headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. United was established by the amalgamation of several airlines in the late 1920s, the oldest of these being Varney Air Lines, which was founded in 1926. The airline merged with Continental Airlines in 2010, making it one of the world's largest airlines with hundreds of domestic and international destinations.

Contents of the Collection The Simonne Fleury Dickinson United Airlines Flight Attendant Photographs Collection consists of six black-and-white photographs of United Airlines Flight attendants with descriptions. These photographs, taken by the United Airlines News Divison, were given to Dickinson to use as publicity during her time as the Director of Foreign Travel at AAA Washington.

Abstract Steve A. Stimpson was a manager for Boeing Air Transport in the 1920s-1930s. The collection contains one hundred and fifty-two (152) black-and-white photographs in an unbound photograph album documenting early United Airlines history.
