Historical Note
United Airlines, Inc., commonly referred to as United, is a major United States airline headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. United was established by the amalgamation of several airlines in the late 1920s, the oldest of these being Varney Air Lines, which was founded in 1926. The airline merged with Continental Airlines in 2010, making it one of the world's largest airlines with hundreds of domestic and international destinations.

Contents of the Collection
The Harry R. Mankins Film Collection is a small collection containing one film reel from circa 1930s-1940s of various military aircraft and airliners flying around the Seattle, Washington area. Aircraft pictured include the Boeing XB-15, XB-17, 247, and 314 Clipper prototype; Consolidated PBY Catalina flying boats; and a United Airlines Douglas DC-3 "Mainliner" aircraft.
