Historical Note

Naval Air Station (NAS) Alameda began naval operations on November 1, 1940, though it had been an airfield since 1927, first as Alameda Airport and then as Benton Field. The base was closed in 1997. It is now known as Alameda Point and undergoing urban redevelopment.

Abstract Henry B. Christensen (1909-1990) was a United States Navy pilot during World War II. The collection contains military records, personnel documents, a pilot's log book, twelve (12) black-and-white photographs, and two (2) New Testaments.
