Historical Note
The New Zealand Flying School was formed in 1915, by the Walsh Brothers, Leo and Vivian, to train pilots for the Royal Flying Corps. Over 100 pilots trained at the school, most of them going on to serve in the First World War, including ace Keith Caldwell. The flying school was sold to the New Zealand Government in 1924 after struggling to survive after the end of the war.

Contents of the Collection
The collection is comprised of twenty-three (23) black-and-white photographs of the Boeing B & W (Model 1). The images were taken by Prentice Arthur Kusabs, circa 1919, and depict the two Boeing Model 1s aircraft that were sold to the Walsh Brothers' New Zealand Flying School. The photographs range in size from 1x2" to 3x4" and show the aircraft in flight and on the ground. A few images include unidentified people, some of whom are possibly the Walsh brothers, George Bolt, and Kusabs. One...
